Everything started out...
...in 1997, when we set out to convert a Freycinet barge into a liveaboard vessel in London. Faced with the challenge of finding quality portholes, we decided to have our own made by craftsmen near the shipbreaking yards along the Pakistani coast. From the very beginning, we insisted on the quality of materials and craftsmanship, requiring conical rings ready to weld.
Then friends and neighbors on other boats asked us to supply portholes for them. In response to this demand, we officially founded the company Canaldock in France where we had ressetled and launched its website.
Double Glazing and ISO Standards
Over the years, Canaldock's catalog has expanded to meet the needs of our customers. We introduced double-glazed portholes for improved thermal and sound insulation, as well as oblong hatch windows for a more modern look. Today, our portholes and watertight doors are manufactured in Europe and the Mediterranean region, in compliance with current international maritime and inland waterway standards: ISO 1751 – ISO 3903 – ES-TRIN.
Fully Stainless Steel Opening Models
In 2024, we added new 300 mm and 450 mm portholes to our catalog with full stainless steel openings, in either brass-look or stainless finish, for enhanced durability, resistance, and a more refined appearance.
Over 25 Years of Experience
Today, Canaldock is a key player in the field of portholes, hatch windows, marine windows, and watertight doors. With over 25 years of experience, the company has equipped more than a hundred barges, ships, and boats across Europe. Over time, we've built trusted relationships with our suppliers, allowing us to respond quickly and efficiently to customer needs.
In 2025, we are continuing our expansion by launching new websites for the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and Belgium.
